What does the marking PlanFl on an objective mean?

The marking PlanFl stands for plan fluorite, also known as a plan semi-apochromat. Some manufacturers use names such as Fluar or Neofluar for this type of objective.

PlanFl objectives are corrected for four wavelengths, similar to plan apochromats, but the correction is slightly less complete. They provide a flat field and accurate color reproduction at a lower cost than plan apochromats.
